The Yoga Therapy Tool Box
Thai Yoga Massage
Thai Massage is an ancient and sacred system of healing with roots in Yoga, Ayurvedic Medicine and Buddhist spiritual practice. It is a unique and powerful system of Yoga Therapy, which combines rhythmic massage, acu-pressure, assisted Yoga stretching exercises, gentle twisting, energy work and meditation.
Pranayama
Breathing techniques improve overall respiration and lung capacity. Improved breathing reduces stress and cleanses the body by releasing toxins lodged deep in the lungs. As circulation improves, energy levels increase and the mind becomes both calm and focused.
Mudra
Mudras are gestures of the hands or body. Using mudras allows us to attune to specific energy frequencies within our being. Mudras help balance and distribute the breath to different areas of the body, enhance breath control, and thus increase the flow of prana throughout the physical, energetic, emotional, and spiritual levels of being.
Asana/Somatics (yoga postures)
Muscle tension accumulates in certain areas of the body such as the neck, shoulders, low back, and hips. Yoga postures and movement exercises release and relax areas of tension and holding through increased body awareness. As muscle tension is released, the mind relaxes toward clarity. Stretching tones and strengthens every major joint and muscle in the body.
Meditation, Guided Imagery, Yoga Nidra
Meditation, guided imagery, and yoga nidra assist in complete integration of body, mind, and spirit. Meditation is a place of stillness, balance and connection, and opens us to our inner resources for healing. Guided Imagery and Yoga Nidra are specific techniques for moving deeply into meditation.
